Since my husband’s episode of ” heart attack” few years ago, i’ve started realizing that our staple diet among malaysians are full of sugars, fast food and carbs. Hi, I just made this bread. Inwas incredibly excited to try it as sometimes I really crave for a slice of bread. I followed all recipe and when I inserted the tooth pick it came as clean as possible. I left it in the over a few kore mins just in case. But I now tried to cut a slife and noticed it is quite moist and there is a bit of water at the bottom of the pan. It does look cooked though and hast toasted a slice and tasted lovely. Did I do anything wrong.???

For seeds and nuts I recommend you guys to pay a visit to “the hive bulk” located at jalan telawi, bangsar, they sell variety of nuts and seeds with reasonable price, and also organice condiments. Signature Market is a good online store to shop too (they are giving 3 months free membership + high discount). For avocado, I find that Jaya Grocer sells at pretty good deal (3 in 1 pack for rm12.90, the one at Intermark). I am just wondering where can I get cheaper salmon, the one I bought at morning market sri rampai costed me rm19 for just one slice! Btw, I am going to try making cauliflower chicken rice and flaxseed crackers too 🙂
This recipe works really well and seems to be pretty versatile. I always have chia seeds so I subbed those for the psyllium husk. Then husband asked if I could make cheese and onion bread so I threw some dried, diced onion and cheese cubes in it. Curry puffs or as we call it, Karipap is a comfort food for Malaysians. Well, any Malaysian food is comfort food to us. 🙂 Karipap is also known as epok-epok and is quite similar to Empanadas. Karipap is a dough stuffed with dry curried minced meat or sardines and then fried. Some add a quarter of a hard boiled egg in it. On a regular day, I would make Karipap using ready made puff pastry as I don’t have a good hand with dough ( I always over handle it). This recipe is perfect. I did half a batch and made six rolls. I used the correct amount of almond flour simply because I didn’t have the nuts in my pantry. These rolls are perfect and moist. I also added some pieces of chopped apple as a treat because it’s apple season and my goal was low carb not Keto. I’m so happy I found this recipe. With winter coming this will be a great treat.

Reading all of these and I may be able to help with some of the issues people have. As far as doubling the recipe, works great for me, just have to increase the temp to 425 to start, first 10 minutes, then drop to 325 for the remainder. Higher start temp gives it the jump you need, lower temp after gives it the ability to bake without burning. Milled flax seeds add a slight bit of unnecessary oils, not much, but oils work best with normal flour. Try whole flax seed on top instead. I have been making this bread alot lately with no issues, I hope no one gets shys away from this recipe because of poor results, just keep trying. You will be glad you did.
